Stone Painting – Proof of Concept

This week I had a go at painting a stone. I wanted to get a feel for how acrylic paint behaves on stone. I painted a simple flower design. It worked quite well although the paint didn’t sink into the surface of the stone at all. I think some kind of undercoat might be useful here.

Mary Magdalene Study in Ink

This week I drew an ink study of Paul Delaroche’s Drapery Study for the Figure of the Dying Mary Magdalene.

I just loved the drapery on this drawing. So I had a go at making an ink study of it…

Overall I wasn’t really happy with the results. I think trying this in pencil would have been a much better idea. Still, I learned a lot from trying it.
