This week’s drawing is a quick ink sketch of a meerkat. They are such fascinating animals to watch – with bags of intelligence, a complex social structure and superhero strength resistance to scorpion venom.

The drawing was sketched roughly in pencil and then drawn more clearly in ink. Once the details were completed I then added a couple of washes in dilute ink to give it some tone. Here’s the final sketch…

I would read this comic and watch this show and go to this movie and I would love this story in anyway it comes up! I’m already imagining it and I love it so much!

Ooo what an awesome idea – a meerkat superhero story! The meerkat’s arch enemy might be some kind of flying villain (in real life their biggest enemies are hawks and other raptors). It would be good to see Timon using his intelligence and resistance to venom in an adventure story too.

Wait…meerkats have “bags of intelligence, a complex social structure and superhero strength resistance to scorpion venom”?? Not only do I want more superhero-oriented meerkat stories now, but I want to see more exciting adventures with Timon and Pumba where Timon uses some of these sweet skills!

Maybe could use a bow tie around his (?) neck to complete the process of becoming a true gentleman. Seriously though, this one does make me smile!
