Well I had a super fun time looking at watercolour and ‘line and wash’ work on the internet. Some of it is amazing!!!
I’ve made a small collection of the watercolours I liked here. They all use animals as the main subject (this was a way to avoid being inundated with cottages and little country scenes.) Where possible I’ve tried to find out the artist’s name but for work on places like Tumblr and PinInterest this isn’t always possible because of all the reblogging that goes on. Also, I find that Etsy’s website won’t let you read the whole description if an item is out of stock and they don’t put the artist’s name in the title. Just so we’re clear, none of the following work is mine – it is all done by other brilliant artists – all credit to them. 🙂
The things I love about these pieces:
- They are really colourful.
- They explore what you can do with watercolour in a broader way.
- There’s a huge range of styles and techniques here, from the very tight and carefully painted Peacock by Kai to the really wild looking Orangutan by Hedricks to the gold and light blue patterns in the picture of the Blue Fawn (I wish I knew the artist of this one – it’s lovely!)
- They all have the feeling of being lively original pictures
I would love to be able to paint like this!!!!
